Weddings
Churches are special places and there are some things about a church wedding that you just can’t get anywhere else.
St John’s is so much more than simply a venue for your wedding. Unique and special things become part of your marriage, on the day itself and beyond:-
A wedding at St John’s will add a spiritual dimension to your marriage. The ceremony includes God and looks to him for help and guidance. God’s blessing is the main attraction for many couples, whatever their beliefs.
You will make amazing vows, or promises, in St John’s. You can only make vows this big in a church. These vows, made in public, will help you to stay together and grow together. God and your church are there for you to help you keep your vows.
Your Vicar has a very particular role to play in your wedding. They can blend ancient tradition and modern experience to reflect your story. You can be involved in making choices about your ceremony. Because of the relationship with the Vicar, your wedding can be made personal, memorable, meaningful and beautiful.
St John’s building offers outstanding beauty and centuries of history going back to 1834. Imagine all the couples who have married at St John’s, some of whom may well be your family. You can feel you’re becoming part of history itself, the bigger plan, by marrying in the same place as your relatives. We know these sorts of connections can make your day even more special.
And after your wedding, you’ll realise that a church is more than simply a wedding venue. Once you are married, we will continue to support you in prayer, in good times and in tough times.

"Like a hidden gem in a haystack St John's parish church oozes historical charm and natural beauty. Our local grade II listed church was the perfect setting to say 'I do' for our spring wedding.
Making our special day a reality was vicar Julia who led the church service, congregation member Pat's breathtaking arrangement of flowers and a choir which lifted the church with heavenly music and praise .
Our wedding day was a truly magical one and one we will treasure forever. Thank you" - Mr & Mrs Labran
"We just want to say a big thank you to you and your team for helping to make our wedding day such a successful occasion.
Both Paula and I had a lovely day and the church looked fabulous. We want to say thank you to everybody involved who helped, yourself, the choir, the people who prepared the church and did the flowers, those that helped with the music, the organist and anybody I may have missed.
The church is a fantastic venue for our wedding and you expertly guided us through every step and helped us both relax and be able to take in the day making it all so much easier.
